Last week, I got my first tour group in my new tour guide career. It’s not like what I expected a chinese tour group or a foreign tour group. It’s a graduated trip of a junior high school student. I don’t have any experience of leading a tour group. Maybe to have a domestic tour group is fine in the beginning. Like what our professor said : In this industry, the reputation is very important. If you screwed in the beginning, unless you got a good travel agency would like to train you, otherwise, you will have less chance to have your second one. The domestic tour group isn’t my target but maybe it’s a good trainning lesson for me.
It’s a big tour group which has 650 students ,50 teachers and 18 tour leaders in it. They’re the third grade of the junior high school and will graduate in a half of year. In my group, there are only quarter of them come to Taipei first time their life. In my era, it would be 80%. The travel is a lot easier than before. It means I need to offer them more information they might not know. It’s my first group, I want only success and happy group. My confidence told me that I can make it.
During the three days being with the students, I seem got a short term brotherhood with them and it recalled me some memories when I studied in the junior high school. Every movie needs a happy ending. A tour group needs one, too. Since we lived in Chien-tan youth activity center one night, when we’re young, almost all the travel activities are elected by an association called “China youth corp.”. The “Chien-tan youth activity center” is their base in Taipei. In their activities or tour groups, the last songs they would always sing will be “ The people meet each other like the duckweeds”. (萍聚) It’s kind of old fashion. However, I preferred said it’s classical. A song could be sung more than 1,000 times and people still like it usually has its owned value. I order this song by kareoke machine as the last one this group sang on the bus in our way home. I saw a happy ending on their faces. I knew one day they will know why I play this one to be the last song during this graduated trip. Here is the lyric of this song.
Chinese lyric:
不管以後將如何結束, 至少我們曾經相聚過
不必費心於彼此約束, 更不需要言語的承諾
只要我們曾經擁有過, 對你我來講已經足夠
人的一生有許多回憶, 只願你的回憶裡有個我
Translation :
No matter how our relationship will be end one day.
As least, we ever met this way.
Don’t bother to tie down each other. I don’t need any promise from you either.
As long as we ever belong to each other. It’s good enough for us.
There are many memories in one’s life.
I only wish I’m one part of your sweet memories.

After we sang this song, I told to the students : Please remember this moments. One day, when you laid on in your bed. You will remember this. Now, you’re one of this tour group. I hope the memories of this tour group will become one part of you. If so, I think it worths any penny you spend in this trip.
