      It’s a licensed world. To valid my tour leader’s license, I need to take a pre-trainning class for the license. I’m glad our government put tour guide and tour leader into the list of the national license’s exam. The oversea travel history in Taiwan is less than 30 years. 30 year ago, it’s an age of innocent. The foreign currency is controled and oversea travel is the privilege of the richman. Therefore, the tour leader is always been described as a boaster or a brown nose who flattered richman well. For the three decades effort, now, you need to have good knowledge of history, geography and travel regulation to pass the national exam of being a tour leader. If you want to be an international tour leader, you also need to pass the foreign language oral exam.

 

Ready for the class

        The most interesting part of the class is listening the experienced professors told us their travel stories. People always said everyone is like a book.  But, if our book is the Harry Porter, their life will be the Bible. They said once you become a tour leader, you will meet many things that regular people can’t meet in a decade during a year. Their speech is like a cup of the Cappuccino coffee of life experiences.  But, it’s not always exciting stories.  There are guests will ask many unbelievable requests. Sometimes, the story mixed with happy, scary, sad and anger components. It’s how this job drives normal people crazy but it’s also attracts people attends this industry year after year.

      For the serious typhoon on Aug. 8th and the H1N1, the taiwanese tour industry meets the most tough year in a decade.  There are many tour agent companies bankrupted. Actually, it ’s a big gamble of attending this industry especially when you had a not bad job with a good offer. However, I really think I can do something more than what I do now.

        I didn’t do enough to make the people came from other countries to  love my country more. I didn’t tell enough how beautiful our country is to my friends or others. There is a gang slang said ” One needs to pay back soon or later this world.” Passing the national exam is a good hint that it’s my time to pay back. Sooner is better than later.  Culture and language difference brings misunderstand all the time. I got the language skill and the licenses. If I’m not the one, who will be?
