The Cambodia Trip

January 6, 2009 · 1 Comment

If one day I looked back my life, the 2008 is definitely one of my most important milestones of my life. I’ve been through lossing my love, lossing 30 pounds in 3 months,  drunk at least two night  a week, had having a surgery 3 days before the  Hannover show, lossing half of my moneys in stock market in a half of year. What a saga. However, I got lots of tender sentiments from my family, my relatives, my pals even friends from internet. I found many friends I lost connection back. I heard many stories from them that they’ve never told in public. I’ve been through and knew a lot more than the last three decades I can learn. It’s hard to say it’s a good or bad year. I only can say “If I can choose, it’s definitely not the life I would choose.” However, my life never chosen by me but by gods’ will. It’s too serious to think about this year. In the end of this year, I need a break and shouting loudly in somewhere far from my homeland to say goodbye (not goodbye, should be “bye forever”) for my 2008 and welcome my new year 2009.

That’s the idea of this trip. Here is the plan. I would like to go to the capital of one of the unknown country in the world. I join the New Year Eve’s celebration concert in their capital. Since everyone is shouting , no-one will care about there is one foreign stranger comes here just looks for the chance to shouting for the last goodbye of the 2008. I would screaming until I lost my voice. I would cry until I lost my last drop of my tears. Then, no more scream and tear in 2009. It’s a romantic and heroic plan. However, there is only one problem. All the airplane tickets to capitals are all sold out in the early December. (Who said the global economic isn’t good?) It seems everyone has the same idea.(The 2008 is really a heartbroken year.) Singapore, Manila,Djakarda,Osaka and Kuala Lumpur. There is no ticket in New Year Eve for a single person in the early December.  Ok, last chance, the Siem Reap (The city where Angkor Wat located.). I heard my mentor said it’s a “must see” tour point in the world. “One day, we will go there. “ Ok, it is. That’s this trip comes from.

Before this trip, I heard lots of rumors about this country. None of them are positive. “Beware, there are many beggers, they will all go for you if you gave the changes to one of them”. “Why do you go there? they smell bad”? ” Someone said some of the Combodians don’t have soul”. Well, my ticket is booked. I don’t think those rumors help me any about this trip. I will check myself.

When I transferred in Ho-Chi-Minh city, I found a toilet poetry in a restroom. I’m always interested in the “toilet literature”. It usually attracts my eyes. You sometimes can learn some true meaning of life from them. This is the poetry.

“Here I sit broken hearted. Tried to shit but only farted. Then, one day, I took a chance. Tried to fart but shit my pants.” I’m sure everyone can learn something from this poetry. (Maybe not the experience but the meaning.) It also describes pretty well about this trip. Honestly, besides the great Angkor Wat, I didn’t expect a lot before this trip. But, I’m glad to say this trip gets a lot better than I expect.
